Overview: In the position the mid-tier DBA will be responsible for all facets of administering the mid-tier at USSTRATOM.  This includes:

  • Architecting infrastructure
  • Installing and configuring applications and web servers
  • Operating System configuration in both UNIX and Windows environments
  • Application deployment and configuration

 

Specific Duties: In this position you will be assisting in the development and enforcement of policies concerning application development standards, providing examples to developers, and the scheduling of deployment activity, as well as new installations of Mid-Tier infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing security standards in the Mid-Tier and ensuring all systems and applications meet DISA and NSA security requirements. You will assist in the administration of Mid-Tier related Oracle databases, and be responsible for development and maintenance of Mid-Tier system monitoring and administrative dashboards, to ensure a proactive approach to system management.

 

Skills:  Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with clients and vendors, demonstrated technical leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current active Top Secret+ security clearance
  • 8 or more years' experience writing code using languages such as (and not limited to) COBOL, PL/1, Java, C, C++, C#, VB.Net. Advanced ability to work with Web-development tools for new applications.
  • Advanced understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Advanced understanding of modern software design and development methodologies (e.g., OO).
  • Experience on multiple full release project life cycles. Advanced understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management).
  • Advanced understanding of testing tools and unit test and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies.
  • Advanced experience using an Integrated Development Environment (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio) and development of tool add-ins. Strong understanding of basic Database Administration.
  • Able to define quality and security standards. Good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • General project management/team leader skills. Ability to work effectively in a globally dispersed team and with clients and vendors.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills.
