Overview: The Computer Systems Analyst reviews and analyzes factors and work to resolve problems impacting the planning, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of command and control (C2) infrastructure. Evaluates, integrates and implements systems and network components based on user's Communications System Requirement Documents (CSRDs).

Experience:

  • Three (3) or more years in a similar role.
  • Direct experience in activating, changing, maintaining, and deactivating circuits at Scott AFB, Illinois plus other AMC locations.
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience needed to improve the overall efficiency of a service organization.
  • Knowledgeable on circuits, procedures, documentation, data collection and analysis, and bit error rate testing.
  • Engineering, transitions, & implementation of government & military networks.
  • Proven leadership in guiding teams successfully from project concept to completion.
  • Experience resolving diverse information technology and network management issues.
  • Background in providing consultative services within the telecommunications industry.
  • Previous Command Post expertise with AMC and other MAJCOMs.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Supports offsite assistance in network protocols, site preparation, and test and acceptance
  • Develops LAN designs and installations at many AMC locations.
  • Determines equipment components for LAN implementations
  • Utilizes existing database applications to manage the field service operation and generate required reports.
  • Serves as a central point of contact for clients to determine the status of implementation activities.

Provides functional guidance, supervision, technical, educational support and quality assurance/quality control as necessary.

  • Designs, implements, and tested copper, fiber optic, network, backbone and distribution cabling to include underground, direct buried and aerial cable plant systems.
  • Directs isolation and resolution of cable faults on filled and pressurized cable utilizing various test equipment.
  • Works with customers, considers and accommodates schedule changes in the implementation of C2 programs that impact base communications operations and functionality.
  • Organizes or serves as a member of site survey or systems acceptance teams.

 

Skills:  

  • Expertise/knowledgeable on:
  • Long Haul interconnects
  • VoIP system design (Secure and Non-Secure)
  • Converged networks from design to implementation.
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies to include battery/inverter/rectifier plants for telephony and data systems and management systems
  • Outside Plant infrastructure to include manhole/duct design
  • Fiber Optic and Copper Cable Outside Plant design
  • Optical Network Equipment
  • Defense Red Switching Network (DRSN) Classified Voice Systems
  • Inside Plant (ISP), Building Wiring
  • BICSI Standards
  • UC Technology and Equipment.
  • IP Technologies to include IPv6
  • Knowledgeable on 802.11 (a,b,g,ac), 802.1x, 802.11i, EAP, TTLS, TKIP, Radius, and radio frequency communication principals
  • Knowledge of new technology to enhance and expand network use of UC in Air Force and

MAJCOM architectures.

  • Proven leader who can work independently.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Expertise/knowledgeable on:
  • Voice Carrier Grade Telephony Systems Including new systems and technology
  • to implement Unified Communications, and associated supporting infrastructure
  • Provide and understand State of the Art Networking Architecture
  • Oversee wired and wireless installations in base networks (integration,
  • configurations and architecture)
  • Knowledge of network transmission systems and applications (wired and
  • wireless)
  • Understand interoperability issues between mixed types of network/equipment to include wired and wireless network equipment
  • Understanding of system/program management (cradle to grave) to include requirements validation, cost proposals, business case analysis, and sustainment
