LCAT: Database Administrator

Overview: In the position the DBA will be responsible for:

• Creating and maintaining Perl and UNIX shell scripts that monitor Oracle databases
• Maintaining the Perl tools that are used to implement the database architectures
• Verifying daily, weekly, and archival backup integrity
• Running restores and ad-hoc backups as needed
• Working with management and system personnel to provide backup configuration

Specific Duties: In this position you will be responsible for:

• Specifying proper types of files organization, indexing methods, and security procedures
• Planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with database administration of Oracle databases and associated servers
• Interfacing with System Administrators to ensure proper system configuration and disk space allocation for database use
• Advising the engineering group in database and supporting architecture to include architecting infrastructure, installing and configuring applications and web servers, OS configuration in both UNIX and Windows environments, and application deployment and configuration.

Skills:  Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with clients and vendors, demonstrated technical leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills. Have a solid understanding of the design of complex databases (e.g., schema and subschema details) so limitations/deficiencies can be identified.

Qualifications:

• Current active Top Secret+ security clearance
• Bachelor's Degree in related or equivalent years of experience
• Background in Database Administration in a substantially large enterprise
• Knowledge of Oracle database
• Experience with Oracle's RMAN, Streams, Goldengate, Dataguard, PL/SQL
• Scripting knowledge in Perl and Shell scripting
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux OS (VMWare is a plus)
