We are seeking a Sr LAN/WAN Technologist I to join the Network Control Center's (NCC) 24/7/365 Infrastructure Support Group (ISG) team in support of the United States Air Force North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex Integrated Tactical Warning/ Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract (NISSC).  NISSC provides accurate, timely, unambiguous warning and attack assessment of air, missile, and space threats with daily visibility to National Command Authority leaders including the President of the United States. NCMC-ITW/AA is composed of air, missile, and space warning missions located at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), Peterson AFB, Offutt AFB, Vandenberg AFB, and other forward user and sensor sites worldwide.

Job Duties: The NCC ISG Sr LAN/WAN Technologist's duties include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, implementing, and maintaining a variety of network communication infrastructure and systems;
  • Providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture;
  • Providing specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs including present and future capacity requirements;
  • Conducting testing of network designs and existing network resources to optimize performance and efficiencies; monitoring network performance and reporting status to Government and contractor leadership;
  • Maintaining technical expertise in all areas of networks, software interconnection, network interfacing, and networking hardware such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways; and
  • Evaluating and reporting on new communications technologies to enhance CMAFS network capabilities and security.

 

This position is considered a Mission Essential position. The individual in this position must be prepared for and be able to report to work and remain on site for extended periods of time during emergencies and drills. During such periods, this LAN/WAN Technologist will likely be unable to maintain contact with anyone outside the site, including family and friends. All CMAFS Mission Essential personal must sign a letter of commitment acknowledging and agreeing to this requirement.

 

Required Skills:

  • Must have demonstrated experience with configuring, deploying, and managing Network Infrastructure devices including, but not limited to, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Appliances within Local, Campus/Base, and Wide area networks of varying sizes and complexity and within "Multi-Vendor" hardware supported environments
  • Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with the administration of Juniper Network Operating Systems (Junos OS); to include the configuration, deployment, and management of various Juniper Networks hardware platforms including, but not limited to, Juniper EX/QFX Series Switches, MX Series Routers, SRX Series Firewalls, and Network Management/Security Appliances
  • Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with the administration of Cisco Internetwork Operating Systems (Cisco IOS); to include the configuration, deployment, and management of various Cisco network hardware platforms including, but not limited to, Cisco 6500/6800 Series Switches, 3750 Series Switches, ASA Firewalls, and ACS Access Control Appliances
  • Must have experience with the administration and management of various Layer 2 protocols and concepts; to include, but not limited to, Virtual Switching Systems (VSS), Virtual Chassis, Port Aggregation (Port-channel/Etherchannel), LACP, 802.1q Trunking, VLANs, 802.1x authentication and port security mechanisms, MAC/ARP databases
  • Must have experience with the administration and management of various Layer 3 protocols and concepts; to include, but not limited to, static routing, Internal and External dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF/BGP), Redundant Routing Protocols (HSRP/VRRP), Access Control Lists and Firewall Filter/Policy implementation
  • Must have experience with network access and authentication control systems, servers and appliances and protocols; to include Radius and TACACS+
  • Must have experience with the administration of Network Monitoring, Diagnostic, and Analytic tools, to include utilization of SNMP based Network Management Systems (e.g, Solarwinds NPM Orion, Junos SPACE) to monitor network performance and respond to network outages and anomalies
  • Must be familiar with the management and utilization of Microsoft DHCP Servers, IP Address Management (IPAM), and understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Must have experience and skills associated with network project design, implementation, and/or network infrastructure sustainment
  • Must possess a deep, broad knowledge of U.S. Air Force/DoD classified and unclassified networks
  • Must have or be able to quickly obtain a current professional network administration certificate (e.g. JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCP, CCNA, CCNP or higher)
  • Must be capable of supporting the CMAFS 24x7 environment independently (this position often works independently to provide support to the NCC's Customer Support Group in the form of troubleshooting the network connectivity of various devices, clients, and workstations
  • Must have current DoD IAT Level II or higher Certification (e.g.; CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISA, GSE, SCNA , CISSP, CASP CE)
  • Must have a minimum of a DoD Final Secret clearance and be able to retain it

 

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience with the management of Voice over IP (VoIP) systems; to include the administration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) servers or appliances and Cisco IP Phones is a significant plus
  • Previous experience with the administration of BlueCoat ProxySG appliances is a plus
  • Previous experience with the administration of ForeScout CounterACT appliances is a plus
  • Previous experience with DoD and/or U.S. Air Force network administration and engineering of unclassified and classified networks is a significant plus
  • Demonstrated experience and capabilities interfacing with high-level U.S. Air Force customers and with multiple DoD Agencies is a significant plus
  • Understanding of OPSEC requirements for the U.S. Air Force is a significant plus
  • Ability to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations is desired
