LINUX/UNIX Systems Administrator

Job Title: LINUX/UNIX Systems Administrator
Work Location: Suffolk, VA
Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience
Clearance: Secret
Education: Bachelor's Degree desired from an accredited college or university or 8 years of work related experience in lieu of a degree.
Certification: Must have Security +, or SSCP, or GSEC, or SCNP prior to hire date
Travel: Occasional (15% of time)

Specific Duties: Provide UNIX system administration consisting of:
• Configure and deploy Solaris and Linux based complex solutions;
• Shell scripting and troubleshooting scripts in various shells;
• Sun Java Enterprise Directory Server (LDAP directory service) installation, configuration, and administration;
• Run thin-client multi-level solutions on Trusted Solaris;
• Provide application support for NCDOC list server for dispersion of advisories and other time sensitive subscription based messages;
• Act as subject matter expert in the deployment and implementation of operating systems and application software;
• Track and resolve all AIS Trouble Tickets, and interact with users to identify and resolve user requirements in a timely manner;
• Provide application support for various systems tools and utilities;
• Provide inventory and configuration control for CND specific systems, including portable computers, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) servers, and Database Servers;
• Provide hardware support for CND platforms including Sun/Solaris and PC/Windows;
• Provide configuration support, maintenance and operation of data backups;
• Provide hardware configuration and maintenance support of tape backup systems;
• Ensure backups are routinely completed and verified enabling recovery as needed;
• Enable and maintain disaster recovery for NCDOC COOP site;
• Provide and maintain offsite storage of tape backups;
• Ability to configure and administer DISA STIGs

Required Skills:
• Strong UNIX system administrator background with network security;
• Experience working with Navy and Information Assurance preferred;
• Must have hands-on experience with IDS and backup;
• Subject matter expertise with operating systems, shell scripts, JAVA, other core services;
• Experience with Brocade switches, LDAP, thin client;
• Experience with configuring and administering DISA STIGs;
• A minimum of at least 7 years experience in administration of UNIX.
• Proficient with SUSE Linux;
• Must be familiar with Sun/Oracle equipment.
• Experience with storage configuration and administration SAN experience to include administration, backup and recovery, snap-mirror, snapshots

Qualifications:
• Active Secret clearance
• Must have Security +, or SSCP, or GSEC, or SCNP prior to hire date
