Specific Duties Include:

The Senior System Administrator will administer and optimize a VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment to maximize uptime, system configuration, and accounting of system data. The successful candidate will support recovery, integrity, availability, scalability and performance of the virtual infrastructure and related components.

• Operating, maintaining, optimizing, and expanding the virtual infrastructure to include virtual servers and virtual desktops using VMware technology.  
• Providing Tier 2 support on VDI; support shall be on- and off-site
• Performing system administration on VDI, including troubleshooting, patch management, desktop image maintenance, application virtualization, testing and integration

• Creating new, or improve existing support procedures and training documentation for operational support team to use
• Installing, configuring and maintaining a scalable and high availability virtual environment utilizing VMware Horizon View 7.x and Liquidware

Requirements include:

• Experience in VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) administration
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server, application deployment with platforms such as VMWare, Horizon View and Liquidware
• Ability to troubleshoot, identify and correct malfunctions and help resolve multi-faceted problems
• Ability to perform capacity and resource planning, assess risks and recommend, design and implement VMware server environments
• Working knowledge of server, network, personal computer (PC) and application deployments
• 5 7 years' experience in a DoD network environment 
• Knowledge of Nutanix Prism Pro
• Knowledge of VMware ESXi and VDI is required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 operating systems is required
• Working knowledge of thin/zero client technologies such as Wyse, HP, etc
• Working knowledge of network management systems such as Solarwinds, Wireshark, etc
• Working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions

• Working knowledge of storage area network (SAN) Hyper-converged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies is a plus

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor's or technical degree in computer science, information systems or other industry related curriculum OR relevant work experience in lieu of the educational requirements
• VCA (VMWare Certified Associate), Security + and Windows 10 certification are required
