Overview: The AOC Weapon System (WS) is the senior Command and Control (C2) element of the Theater Air Control System (TACS) and operational level focal point for C2 of air and space forces during Air Force (AF) and combined (coalition)/joint operations. Headquarters (HQ) Air Combat Command (ACC) is the Lead Command, Combat Air Force (CAF) lead, and force provider of AOC equipment and personnel as an Air Force component of United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) - [AFGSC], United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) [AFCENT], and United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) [AFSOUTH]. There are numerous AOC entities at separate locations world-wide, providing fixed and deployable, training and innovation, functional, and manpower augmentation capabilities

 

The 608 AOC requires Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) as AOC functional operators, technicians and subject matter experts (SME) to augment and enhance forces and operations as follows:

  • Integrating 608 AOC operations, global strike, and global Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I);
  • Planning, defining, implementation, and operational management of global communications systems, Common Operational Picture (COP) and the AOC WS;
  • Employing an integrated systems approach to assist with properly developing, implementing, testing, planning, and managing the AOC WS;
  • Building and maintaining Crew Mission Readiness program for the AOC WS Training and STAN/EVAL support functions;
  • Developing and promoting best Knowledge Management practices using cyber operational data for Senior AOC Leadership.

 

Specific Duties:  AOC Weapon System Maintenance Support:

  • Provide Remedial Maintenance as required.
  • Coordinate actions with the host base Communications Squadron, STEM-B, AFNETOPS, and other controlling organizations as appropriate.
  • Support Personnel with managing internal network devices.
  • Coordinate problem resolution with network services providers as required.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate network failures for IP based networks.
  • Operate National Security Agency (NSA) approved network encryption devices, SAN, CISCO products.
  • Support personnel with loading and maintaining Bulk Encryption devices such as KG-175s and KG-250s.
  • Support personnel with the "IP Config Option" for radio over Internet Protocol (IP) based communications, Ethernet, or networking capabilities.
  • Support personnel with configuring and connecting a radio to CISCO Layer 3 network devices.
  • Support personnel with configuring and operating Harris Wireless Messaging Terminal (WMT) software on laptops/desktops.
  • Support personnel with Microsoft Exchange Server administration.
  • Support personnel with VMWare and virtualized private networking systems.
  • Support personnel with datalink systems to include: Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI) Joint Range Extension (JRE), Ultra 16 and other Link 16 systems.
  • Support personnel with administering multiple video teleconferencing configurations.
  • Support personnel with video switch configurations for CRESTRON systems.
  • Provide purchasing guidance to GPC Approving Officials to:
  • Acquire hardware required for remedial maintenance through commercial marketplaces.
  • Procure parts, spares, and materials necessary to support contract functions.
  • Track and execute warranties for asset maintenance/management.
  • Assist with, but not complete, government accountability inventories and preparation for Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO).
  • Perform installation and relocation to include: Install, de-install, and relocate hardware. Create repair, install, and remove cabling (and cabling infrastructure [raceways, conduit, etc.]) for supported systems IAW (or in coordination with) MAJCOM or Air Force Network Operations (AFNETOPS) requirements and representatives. Inspect areas for new installations or reconfigurations.
  • Documentation and Configuration Management including: (a) Create/update network diagrams supporting Information Assurance, Configuration Management, and government documentation requirements; (b) Perform/maintain change control, configuration management, and associated documentation; (c) Provide lessons learned/best practices in a COR approved format.
  • Provide training to include: (a) Familiarization training on C4I system hardware maintenance and interconnectivity for active duty and civilian personnel as requested by the COR; (b) Unit-specified training and/or meetings (attend required unit training and meetings as requested by the COR); (c) System Administration support (Operating System, not C4I Applications which applies to patches and loading drivers) in accordance and/or coordination with MAJCOM or AFNETOPS requirements and representatives.

Qualifications:

  • An active current TS+ security clearance;
  • Willing and able to travel as required;
  • Possess at least three (3) years of demonstrated relevant experience working with AOC Weapon Systems and familiarity with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 13-1 AOC Volume 3 Operational Procedures Air and Space Operations Center, secure facility access processes
  • Possess one or more of the related communications systems or certifications specified below:
    • NIPRNet and SIPRNet network enterprise environments;
    • Microsoft Windows operating system software for servers and workstations;
    • Solaris operating systems;
    • VMWare;
    • Oracle software for servers and workstations;
    • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) certification;
    • Current IAT level II certification(s);
    • Completion of a formal C2 FTU AOCIQTSYS and/or AOCIQTNET course or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of three years' experience working with operational level C2 systems with demonstrated experience performing AOC (Falconer) C2 systems administration
  • Demonstrated systems administration proficiency with Solaris operating systems, VMWare, and Oracle software for servers and workstations
  • Possess/maintain IAT level II certification(s) IAW DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement program.
  • Possess demonstrated relative knowledge of intelligence capabilities, processes, and tasking mechanisms necessary to support Government efforts for performance of AOC Weapon Systems (WS) (highly desired).
  • Possess a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
